The Cthulhu Boss Fight is one of the most important and intense battles in Fisch, introduced alongside the Second Sea update. Defeating this boss is the main requirement to unlock access to the Second Sea and begin your new journey across its islands, rods, and rare fish.
How to Start the Cthulhu Boss Fight
To begin the fight:
- Go to Terrapin Island (First Sea).
- Travel to the back of the island, near the old Hunt event area.
- Speak with the Sea Traveler NPC.
- Select the dialogue option: “I was always prepared.”
⚠️ If you don’t meet the level requirement (around Level 250), he’ll block your path.
Entering the Crypt
- After confirming your preparedness, walk through the vault-like stone door.
- You’ll be teleported to a dark corridor known as the Crypt of the Green One.
- Talk to the Dreamer NPC at the end. He will open the gate to the arena.
- A short cutscene will play, introducing the challenge.
Keeper’s Torch & Boss Mechanics
Once inside the arena:
- Walk into the central circle to trigger a 2-minute countdown.
- Grab the Keeper’s Torch (you must have one empty hotbar slot).
- Use the torch to shoot flames at Cthulhu by tapping or clicking.
🔥 You must match the flame color to the colors beneath Cthulhu’s health bar.
🎨 Color Matching
- Around the arena are colored lanterns: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, etc.
- Touch a lantern to imbue your flame with its color.
- Only flames matching the active color phase will deal damage.
Strategy Tips
- Don’t rush — Each flame color phase must be completed before moving to the next.
- Use mobility gear like Advanced Glider or Glimmerfin Boots to reach lanterns quickly.
- Fight is solo-able, but easier in a team.
- Falling during the parkour may reset progress or result in defeat.
Second Phase & Final Strike
- After depleting all health bars, a second stage begins.
- Cthulhu becomes more aggressive, using AOE attacks, beam blasts, and shockwaves.
- Stick to the lantern matching pattern and avoid attacks carefully.
- Keep a steady rhythm: imbue > fire > dodge > repeat.
Rewards & Progression
- Defeating Cthulhu unlocks the Second Sea permanently.
- You will also receive:
- The Aurora Bobber
- Access to E$ currency
- The ability to buy Second Sea rods
- A Bestiary badge for completion
You only need to beat Cthulhu once per account. After that, the Sea Traveler can teleport you to the Second Sea directly.
Visuals & Atmosphere
Cthulhu’s fight is known for:
- Gorgeous VFX and color-shifting torches
- An eerie soundtrack and ambient sounds
- A multi-phase, story-driven fight unlike any previous in Fisch
Bugs & Issues (Early Patches)
- Keeper’s Torch not registering properly (fixed in patch 1.26.4)

These issues have been mostly resolved by the development team.
